Thermal seal inspection uses infrared thermography to identify weak or defective seals on packaging by analyzing heat distribution, often achieving >99% accuracy. It is a non-destructive, high-speed, inline method used to detect leaks, contamination, and misalignments in pouches, bottles, and trays. This technology works through opaque, printed materials to verify seal integrity.

  • Methodology: Infrared cameras detect inconsistencies in heat patterns along the seal line. A cooler area typically suggests a lack of heat/pressure (weak bond), while uneven areas indicate contamination. Infrared cameras basically “see” the residual heat from joining, gluing, sealing, and welding processes. 
  • Applications: Commonly used in food processing for trays, bags, and pouches, and in pharmaceutical applications for induction-sealed bottles, pouches, sacks etc.

  • Standard powder-coated Industrial Electrical Enclosure with Touch-Screen PC and application software (Hi-Tech/ MoviTHERM/User’s own developed)
  • Robust bi-directional PLC interface to transfer status messages and PASS/FAIL results to plant PLC over Ethernet/IP or Modbus (Hi-Tech/ MoviTHERM/User’s own developed)
